Sue Navin
I am a woodcarver, working with handsaw, chisels and mallet. I mainly carve horses and hares, trying to capture the movement of the animal and show the beauty of the wood. I am an Associate of the Society of Equestrian Artists and have had work exhibited at the RWA and with the Bath Society of Artists. In 2019 I was awarded the 3D and sculpture prize at the Discerning Eye exhibition for a little horse carved out of a log from the firewood pile.
Recently I have been carving holly which is a lovely close-grained, hard, white wood. Also silver birch after our lovely tree was damaged in a storm in the summer of 2020 and had to be cut down.
