I moved from Sweden to England in 1994 to study Ceramic Design at Central saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. During the Summers I worked as an assistant to ceramic artist KateMalone and saw for the first time how exuberant and large as life ceramics can be. Coming from minimalist Sweden, I had never seen pots like that before.

In 2001 I moved to Weston-super-Mare where I create work by making a basic shape that is either coiled, slab built or press moulded. Hand modelled details are added, giving each piece a sense of movement. The designs are loosely based on nature. It is not important for me to copy it, but to evoke in the viewer a smile that one automatically gets when seeing the wonders of colours and shapes in nature.

My chosen material is a white stoneware clay that is high fired making every piece frost proof and suitable to be displayed outdoors. I paint the fired piece with brightly coloured and very shiny glazes that I make myself. The effect is almost like watercolour as the glazes move and blend in the last of three firings
