Sarah Davis

I am a stained glass artist and tutor, trained at Bristol School of Art, and now based in Slimbridge, Gloucestershire. I’ve continued to developed my skills over two decades of working with this fascinating medium, enjoying the challenge of creating vibrant designs using the varied colours and textures of stained glass. I often use sgraffito painting techniques to produce intricate patterns on the surface of the glass.

My work usually follow natural themes, including plants, landscapes, animals and birds, making use of traditional and modern techniques. Although a lot of my stained glass is created as commissions for clients, I also enjoy developing work based on my own interests. I’m currently working on a long term project exploring the plight of endangered and vulnerable species. In particular, I’m aiming to show how the transformation of habitat, whether through climate change or human intervention impacts individual species.

Most of my stained glass has been made as hangings or installed as windows or panels. However, I’m intrigued by the possibilities of extending my work into more sculptural freestanding and 3D forms, so have challenged myself to follow this as a new direction.

I am a member of the Contemporary Glass Society and the Gallery at the Guild in Chipping Campden, Glos.
